Founding Fathers: John Adams

John Adams served as 2nd president of the U.S. His cousin was Samuel Adams.
John Adams was another very influential Founding Father of the U.S.
He was born in 1735 in Massachusetts. After graduating from Harvard University at age 20, he started a career in law. His sharp intellect and wide-ranging knowledge made him one of the brightest
minds in the legal field! In 1764, he married Abagail Smith, and they went on to have 5 children including future president John Quincy Adams! Adams argued with words for individual freedom and republicanism. This a kind of government where people elect leaders. Adams opposed The Stamp Act which the British Parliament passed in 1765. John won the 1797 presidential election March 4, 1797 and his presidential term ended March 4, 1801. Adams died the same day as Jefferson.
